Phyllodesmium jacobsenae

An amazing master of camouflage, when this example was first shown to me I had no idea what I was looking at, and it was not until about 5 minutes later when my friend Carole found another one separated from its natural environment that I realized that this was not a soft coral but a nudibranch.

Photographed at Puerto Galera in the Philippines.

Later that afternoon, we found another example at "Giant Clams" site with no host coral nearby, and it was wandering around on the sand flats all by itself.
